Usually go for Bombay Sapphire. Was recommended Suntory roku by liquormonger. Delish tall gin and tonic in a trashy 20 oz mason!

G in and tonics are underrated, (and I hear they cure the C ovids!) Twist - try it with a slice of blood orange or tangerine - the bitterness of the tonic blends nicely.

That might be good! Used to a g&t ever since sneaking samples from my dad in the 1970s. Usually beer guy. Tall gin and tonics were nice bar fodder summertime ( now covid home drink) only other time I liquor is Xmas bourbon neat.

It’s quite different from a Bombay Sapphire and in my personal taste miles better in a gin tonic or neat .
It’s a floral gin that has an agrum and slightly medicinal nose that tastes “fresh” and the juniper is far from being dominant (which i usually don’t appreciate much).
It is actually using : sakura flower, yuzu peel, sencha tea, sansho pepper, sakura leaf and gyokuro tea.

I always order S apphire or at least Tanqueray. The Suntory is cleaner while keeping a gin profile was as promised from the guy at store I very frequent. If you like English gin its nice stuff

Interesting, I shall have to give it a go one of these days. I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to gin, but I did have Nolet Silver a couple months ago and quite enjoyed it.
And I consider it a stretch of a gin, but Kyro Koskue is interesting to have at least once.

Maybe beer and Gin and Tonic is a thing? I’m usually a beer person but my go-to-cocktail is gin and tonic. I find Tanqueray tastes like buckley’s and pine needles, and Sapphire is too much juniper. Gordon’s is my go to.

I’ve been largely very impressed with Japanese whiskey (Iwai Tradition has made its way into my rotation) , so I see no downside to give it a shot.

Don’t know those but they looks interesting.
The Roku is a “cheap” gin at around 30€ (the Bombay Sapphire seems to be around 22€) .

The pairing also really depend on the gin, some will pair well with a zest and/or a slice of an agrum, some with a cucmber, some with peppercorns.
ps: forgot to mention that a ginger slice (can be with bitter on it) is also a nice pairing on some gin.

I was really impressed as this was not only cheaper than Bombay or Tanqueray a little, but also made a great drink. Will buy next time too

Kyro Koskue is from Finland. It’s a rye gin, aged in white oak barrels. So it’s pretty far from traditional, but it was a very interesting drink to have neat or with a splash of seltzer. It was about $50 USD, so...44 -ish €. Not a cheap gin, but not crazy expensive either.
Nolet Silver is very fruit-forward and flower-forward for a gin, to me at least. But it was great for cocktails. I want to say it was in that mid-tier price as well, $35 or $40 for the 750ml.
Just ordered a bottle of the Roku to be delivered to me. Only $26, so not bad at all. Just $5 more than I pay for my Bombay Sapphire.

If you like refreshing cocktails without too much sugar or fruit , a london mule which is like a moscow mule but with gin instead of vodka is quite good.
I also like the other alternatives that are the paris mule (Cognac) and cuba mule (rh
um).

Seems like in here it’s about 50€ for the Kyro Koskue in 0.5l and a similar price for the N olet in 0.7l bottle.

Slightly cheaper gins (~45€) that I really like are the Del Profess
ore gins from Italy that exists in multiple variations, both the “Madame” and “Monsieur” are very good.

I think it’s hard to go wrong with ginger beer+booze (maybe even sambuca). I’ve heard swapping vodka for gin in a c aesar is quite nice

Mmmmm...Tanqueray is our go to now that the local distributor for Plymouth Gin is having themselves on...but Oz is awash with gin distillers so there’s plenty to try...
Current preferences are from Manly Spirits in Sydney and Four Pillars in Tasmania...

I'll have to try that sometime, I generally go for aviation or Hendricks as my standard value picks, also really like tanqueray rangpur. Gin is about all I drink anymore though.
